The Cwtch is the home of Fiordland Unexplored and as such is a great place for the adventurer to stay. Greg is a wonderful host and will gladly assist you with information and advise to make your Southern Fiordland adventure the best ever.

We offer two types of accommodation at The Cwtch (said KUTCH rhymes with butch) which is a Welsh word meaning a Cuddle or a safe place to rest. Either a no-frills  4 bunk room with bathroom located in an adjoining building. Come with your own linen, sleeping bags. Or a double room with linen, towels provided. There are no independent cooking facilities and as it is joined to the Art Gallery, it is not suitable for children. Tuatapere does offer several cafes, bars, restaurants and takeaway outlets plus a supermarket for supplies and all are just minutes walk away.

I have never been so wrong. This place is a real hut: it is finely built like a hut and decorated with useful maps and books about the area. Here you can rest and plan your next trip in a quiet and warm atmosphere. The warden, Greg, is a passionate and very expert hiker and deeply knows the area. He has been very welcoming and giving me precious advice for my next hike. I didn't believe it was possibile, but Greg really succedeed in creating a town hut.
